ROLFING
DESCRIPTION:
Rolfing is a system of manual manipulation
that focuses on the myofascial system. Different
from massage where the focus is on muscle insertion and origin
Rolfing looks at the body as an interconnected whole. A typical
rolfing series is 10 sessions with each hour or session focusing
on a different part of the body. The goal of a 10 series of Rolfing
is to ease postural strain, manage repetitive stress syndrome
and allow the body to move more efficiently and gracefully.
Although it is uncommon for clients to commit to a whole 10 series
of
Rolfing
for those who do it is an amazing study into ones individual
movement patterns. Once someone has been through all 10 sessions
maintenance
work can be done as often as one desires. Originally taught by
Dr Ida Rolf Rolfing certification can now be obtained through
the Rolf Institute in Boulder Colorado and is typically a 3
year process.

As a highly experienced body-worker with over 20 years of experience
practicing and studying athletic therapy, kinesiology, Rolfing,
sports massage, cranial sacral therapy, stretching and yoga,
my massages are deep and intelligent. In a session I typically
pull from
all of my academic and experiential influences tailoring the
treatment to what the client needs most.My work is definitely
deep tissue
with a movement cranial sacral edge. I am covered for medical
plans through the Canadian Natural Health Practitioners
Association.
